Ladies Mountain Bike Ride Day
High Bridge, NJ Date TBD
Ride Day Details
This ride day isn’t a formal event, but rather a gathering of ladies who expressed interest via our Facebook group! This page is convenient for sharing all the details in mind for this ride day, though some details may shift slightly depending on group preferences. Read on then fill out the form below!
-
High Bridge, NJ is an ideal location for this ride day. It’s a destination for all kinds of bike riders because it’s beautiful and offers a variety of bicycling terrain from flat trails to woods trails to downhill, conveniently in one area.
There’s a large, convenient parking lot where the Flow Trails are, and we can easily ride out from there to hit all the different terrain options (see details just below).
-
We can split into separate groups (based on preference or bike style) and ride one style of trail in the morning, and a different in the afternoon, with a break in-between. (or ride the same type of trail twice). At the end of the day we can all go check out the Flow Trails, whether we ride or just watch.
8am - Arrival, unload, get set up with your demo bike.
9-11am - Morning ride session
11am-12pm - Lunch break
12-2pm - Afternoon ride session
2:30 - Check out Flow Trails

High Bridge, NJ offers a variety of great bicycling terrain all in close proximity, so ladies can try some of each!
The Columbia Trail is a 16.5-mile, flat, multi-use, linear trail with natural and stone dust tread that traverses western Morris County and wanders into a beautiful section of Hunterdon County. The user-friendly trail meanders through woods, fields and farms, crosses small bridges, skirts local country roads, and takes you over the spectacular Ken Lockwood Gorge.
Nassau Trails is a 6 mile trail system that has everything for beginner to advanced mountain bikers, including beautiful woods trail, rock gardens, climbs and switchbacks, plus some small manmade jumps, little bridges and more. If this type of terrain is new to you, try it just part of the day with an E-bike demo from Santa Cruz.
High Bridge Flow Trails & Pump Track New Jersey’s first downhill-only trails on public land. These “flow trails,” along with the new pump track provide a progressive, family-friendly experience in close proximity to the 9+ mile Nassau Trails system

BIKES
Read the Terrain Options first! There are 2 main options: Flat trail vs woodsy trail, so different kinds of bikes can be used. To try something you don’t have the bike for, you can reserve a demo bike, OR trade off with anyone else who is willing to let you try their ride!
Columbia Trail (Flat) - Ride any bike easily, whether gravel, road bike, hybrid, whatever.
Nassau Trails (Woodsy) - Mountain Bike is crucial. It has more suspension than a gravel or road bike. And, if you’re like me and out of shape or a slower/newer rider, I recommend an E-MTB (Electric-Assist Mountain Bike), to help you in keep up while still being challenged.
Demo E-MTB from Santa Cruz - TBD - We may have about 10 E-bikes from Santa Cruz available to try on the Nassau Trails for either an AM or PM session.
GEAR
BYO. We don’t have any gear to loan. Bike helmets are required. They don’t have to be full-face downhill MTB helmets, just regular bike helmets.
For the woods, clear glasses are preferred to protect your eyes. And, we suggest you wear what you’ll feel most protected in: Sturdy sneakers (I have worn high-top Vans for a first few rides), otherwise MTB-specific shoes are ideal. Shin, knee or elbow guards might be desirable especially for the woods trails.
-
Bring your own coolers/lunches etc for the 11am-12pm lunch break.
Bring riding snacks and hydration packs if you feel you’ll need it.
There are coffee shops and restaurants just up the street
Scout’s Coffee & Mercantile
Mrs Riley’s Publik House (Irish Bar with outdoor seating)
Gronsky’s Milk House (Ice Cream)
